Mouse wheel scrolling in 64-bit

We’re rolling out the 64-bit client to a group of beta testers (Mac only), and we got a report about mouse wheel scrolling that seems to affect all of 4D, from the method editor to list boxes.

Basically, if you scroll by one step (easier to do with a “clicky” scroll wheel), the area doesn’t scroll. You have to scroll by at least three (approximately) clicks of the wheel before it starts to move.

All other applications will scroll a small amount on a single step of the scroll wheel.

Can this be fixed so 4D behaves like other applications?

I’ll report this as a bug too through tech support.

Hi Jeffrey,
same here, I think…
• 32 bits, one wheel step = one line scroll, simple and nice (not to
say obvious?)
• 64 bits, one wheel step does nothing, as you describe. I have to
roll the wheel a bit more than one step (3, 4, 5, more ?) before some
scroll happens. Holding down the scroll indicator and drag is a poor
turnaround (needs a a small total number of lines in the listbox). As
a result, line by line scrolling is impossible, it’s very annoying.

the scroll wheel.
I compared with the scroll in:
• MS excel -> pixel by pixel
• LibreOffice -> line by line
The pixel stepping sounds more “fluid”, but both could suit me in 4D.

I compared with Safari - looks like maybe 5-10 pixels. 1 pixels would be annoying I think in 4D. But some small number of pixels, or one line of text, would be good. Or whatever the 32-bit version does (never had any user complaints about that).

Agree, anything but that

In excel, one step = one pixel, but if I throw more steps at once, I suppose the scroll is a kind of exponential of the mouse wheel steps, unless it would take days to reach the bottom.

Done too.

Many thanks from my good old mouse, thinking it was the culprit I was about to buy a new one before I read you
