v17R4+ 4D Server <-> 4D Remote communication encryption

A security audit asked the question, what is the security of communication between 4D Server and 4D Remote.

Some of the answer is here:

ServerNet is lightly described here:
https://livedoc.4d.com/4D-Server-Reference-17-R6/Using-4D-Server/Network-and-Client-Server-options.300-4362483.en.html

SSL is implied here:
https://kb.4d.com/assetid=77736

I need a simple, straight answer. I’m expecting that if I packet-sniff the communication I would see encrypted data.

What is the method of encryption?

:slight_smile:

https://blog.4d.com/4d-security-guide/

starting from the line “For 4D server, when using TLS…”

the method, TLS version, is “applied globally to the network layer”,

meaning,

Min TLS version applies to C/S communication too.
